The Mixed Types
Fire/Earth:
You mix practicality with impracticality,
impulsiveness with patience. You can be
the most reliable of persons .. who
suddenly goes off without notice. You can
make the visionary real. You mix strength
and courage. Trouble results when you are
insensitive to your environment, become
self-centered to the point of
hypochondria, or fail to take proper
health measures or precautions.
Every person relates to each of the four
elements differently, depending on their varying
emphasis in the personality. For example, one
person may be a "natural" swimmer, preferring
to exercise in the water, sensing that the sea or
lake shore acts as a restorative. Another is a
"natural" runner, preferring to have the Earth
firmly under his or her feet at all times and
taking joy in the sights, sounds, and smells of
the land beneath.

The elements refer to the most basic energies
within us, essential dynamic life forces. The
elemental makeup is the energy pattern of the
individual. A grasp of these life principles and
how they operate is a major step toward
understanding what makes one ill and what will
heal both physical and emotional disorders.
Fire/Air:
You put ideas into action, join vision
to logic. You are objective but can be
affectionate as well. You like to gain
knowledge about your own health and
will seek out appropriate treatment
from an intellectual standpoint.
Trouble results when you disconnect
from your spiritual needs and
concentrate too narrowly on the
intellectual level, or when you exhaust
yourself through restlessness and
unrealistic adventures.
Fire/Water:
You are the most intuitive of the Mixed
Types. You are very fluid and your
connection to your inner realm is
amazing. You get accurate hunches about
what is wrong with you if you feel ill.
Impressionable and sensitive, you respond
well to visualizations to promote health
and healing. Trouble results when you
succumb to hysteria and
over-emotionalism or wall yourself off in
your own private universe.
Earth/Air:
You are extremely efficient, combining
objectivity with practicality, and you
are likely to be involved in your own
health and health care, using
conventional means of treatment for
illness while being open to unorthodox
methods. You plan and execute well
and are in a positive to stay on top of
a situation. Trouble results when you
fall prey to skepticism, pessimism, or a
cynical view of life.
Earth/Water:
You are simultaneously sensitive and
grounded, both intuitive and practical.
You have a talent for accepting whatever
cards life deals to you and making them
work. When ill, you tend to feel your way
into your own depths to find the cure.
Trouble results when you overindulge,
which can produce addictions, or use your
depths as a means of escape from
harsh reality.
Air/Water:
You are extremely sensitive,
combining compassionate feelings
with objectivity. You can detach from
your emotions and empathetic
responses and analyze your experience
coolly. With both a logical mind and
the ability to feel, you can effect the
course of any illness from both angles.
Trouble results when you rely too
heavily on your intellectual abilities,
which makes you high-strung
and nervous.
This is a simple exercise designed to enable you to increase the vital force in your
body in order to combat illness or effect healing. It can also be used anytime you
are tired and need to refresh yourself. You can do this almost anywhere .. sitting
quietly at home, in your car, on a train. In the middle of a bustling city, slip into a
church .. and breath in energy.

Relax and close your eyes. Tell yourself that you are now going to add vital energy
every time you inhale deeply. Think of it as putting extra dollars into your energy
bank for use whenever you need it. Realize that you are always surrounded by this
vital healing force, that it sustains and nourishes you all the time, even when you
are unaware of it. Begin to breathe slowly and rhythmically, not altering your
breath pattern but simply becoming aware of it. Now, begin to breathe deeply ..
slowly and deeply. As you inhale each breath, be aware of the energy coming into
your body. Imagine it filling up all the cells in your body like you would fill a
balloon by blowing air into it. Let the sense of being filled with energy spread
throughout your body. Feel it energize your mind. Hold each breath for a few
seconds while you imagine these results. Then, as you exhale, feel the energy being
retained within you. Let the breath go out smoothly and easily.
Do not force or strain. Enjoy!
