The 10th House .. I Am My Profession
Second in the importance only to the Ascendant/1st House, the 10th reveals the
nature of one's career, overall potential contribution to society, and level of success
in the material world. If the 1st House speaks about who you are, the 10th tells
what you may achieve as an individual. The ascendant reveals potentiality while the
midheaven (cusp of the 10th house) expresses the maturation and ripening of that
potential. There is a very close and positive relationship between the 2nd house, the
6th, and the 10th. The 2nd speaks about our personal values, talents, abilities, and
material resources. The 6th shows us how we handle the affairs of the 2nd. In the
6th, we acquire techniques, processes, and skills for putting our various abilities to
best use. The 10th shows how this interplay culminates in a defined career and place
in society. The 10th gathers together our potential and actual resources, integrates
them with the processes that we have developed through our 6th house jobs, and
then synthesizes all of this into a cohesive package. The 10th house is also the
House of the Father, as it is the domicile of all authority figures that have played an
important role in one's life .. teachers, guides, employers, and older people in
general. It is also the house of the government, and it reveals how an individual
copes with society's rules and regulations. The 10th is opposite the 4th, the House
of the Mother. It is a much less personal house than the 4th, which reveals so much
about our psychological dynamics as anchored in our family roots. If the 4th cusp
(the IC) represents our roots, then the 10th cusp (the MC) is the flowering of our
fruits. If the roots have been well nourished, than the tree of our being will produce
abundantly. If the roots have been stunted, than the individual will have to struggle
to produce in the world.
Planets in the 10th House
Sun Even if it is poorly aspected, the Sun here is always beneficial in some respect.
When it is well-aspected, it denotes success in the chosen profession, honors,
authority, and independence. Your hunger to achieve may draw you into the public
eye where you thrive on the authority and power you have. Excellent for CEO's,
political leaders .. prominence.
